DACOF Participation

DACOF (Dog Agility Competition of Florida) is a Team Agility Tournament held once a year, usually at the end of June, to which clubs and training schools send as many as three, ten-dog teams (three dogs at the Novice and Open levels and four dogs at the Excellent/Master level). The competition is held at the Silver Spurs Arena, an air-conditioned, indoor facility in Kissimmee, Florida. It is a veritable three-ring circus with 400+ dogs competing simultaneously in three agility rings (one Novice, one Open and one Excellent/Masters) throughout the weekend. The event was conceived by a group of dedicated Florida agility enthusiasts, spearheaded by the late Randy Reed, to provide a fun way to introduce new handler/dog teams to the exciting sport of agility, in a friendly, “Team” environment, during (what used to be) the summer “Florida Off-Season” months.

DACOF is a TEAM Event!

Teams are built from Rosters.

Rosters are lists of people (Dog Handlers) with shared nexus from a particular organization or group. (e.g., Belong to the same Dog Club or Organization, train together, have a shared dog breed, or share some other material and identifiable commonality) All possible prospective handlers for a group should be submitted as a Roster before the "Roster Deadline" (approximately four months before the competition) to the DACOF Secretary. (The "Roster Deadline" can be found each year on the DACOF Flyer and on the "Important Deadlines" Tab of the DACOF Web Page.)

Not all handlers listed on the Roster must be on the Team but additional handlers may not be added to the Roster after the "Roster Deadline."

Regardless of the number of handlers on the Roster, Each Organization or Group may send a maximum of 30 dogs to DACOF.

Once a Roster has been submitted, Team Building can commence.

A “full team” consists of ten dogs, three each at the Novice and Open levels, and four dogs at the Excellent/Master level. Partial teams may consist of any number of dogs less than ten, with no more than three dogs at the Novice and Open levels, and four dogs at the Excellent/Master level.

Please see the "Title Cross Reference" information on the web site to determine proper DACOF Level eligibility. The "Title Cutoff Deadline" which is approximately 60 days before the competition can also be found each year on the DACOF Flyer and on the "Important Deadlines" Tab of the DACOF Web Page.

Preferred Dogs are also eligible. Please see the "Preferred Eligibility" information. There is also a "Preferred Jump Height Cutoff Date" approximately five months before the competition and can also be found each year on the DACOF Flyer and on the "Important Deadlines" Tab of the DACOF Web Page.

Discounted Early Bird Entries are due approximately 60 days before the competition and entries close approximately 30 days before. And you guessed it! This information can also be found each year on the DACOF Flyer and on the "Important Deadlines" Tab of the DACOF Web Page. "Membership/Entry Forms" will be available on the web site for each corresponding year.

DACOF is so much more than just a few agility runs! DACOF Raffle Baskets, DACOF CATCH (Crating Area Team Challenge), the Randy Reed Memorial Award, DACOF Pins, providing DACOF Workers, the DACOF Annual Meeting, DACOF Social Event and DACOF Outstanding Sportsmanship Awards are also important DACOF participations.

Now that you have the basic information for DACOF Participation, we encourage you to explore the entire web site for all the information you may need including the official DACOF Rules.

The DACOF Board of Directors looks forward to your entry!
