Hello Members!
🎉 DACOF is only a few days away! 🎉
To help streamline the FAST Briefing during the DACOF Event, we've prepared the following Pre-Briefing Information to address some of the most common questions and clarify a few important points in advance.
It seems that the DACOF FAST Briefing often takes a little longer than the briefings in the other rings because of the additional questions that typically come up. We frequently have new handlers who may not be familiar with all the ins and outs of the FAST class, and even some of our more seasoned handlers may appreciate a quick refresher. 😊
Please take a few moments to review the information below before your FAST run. Doing so will help us keep the briefing concise, stay on schedule, and get everyone into the ring as efficiently as possible.
🐾 Thanks for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing everyone in the FAST Ring!
DACOF FAST ~ Pre-Briefing
ALL Obstacles (except the Teeter) are Bidirectional
The Start and Finish Jumps are also Bidirectional
Must Start at the Start Jump!
If a Dog accidentally takes another Obstacle before taking the Start Jump, the Dog cannot earn a Send Bonus although Points Earned from Obstacles throughout the course and in the Send Bonus Areas will be credited to the score
The Finish Jump is Always Live!
If a Dog takes the finish jump at any point in the run, your run is finished and completed, even though you may have planned on taking additional obstacles
ALL THREE Send Bonuses (Novice, Open & Ex/Master Bonuses) are available to, and may be attempted by all classes (Novice, Open & Ex/Master)
Novice Send will be Bidirectional and, in any order
(10 Bonus Points)
Open Send must be taken in One Direction Only, and in flow
(15 Bonus Points)
Ex/Master Send must be taken in One Direction Only, and in flow
(20 Bonus Points)
Only the highest point Send Bonus attained will be added to the score
If NO BONUS is completed successfully, all points earned from Obstacles Completed will still be credited towards the score
However, Dogs MUST cross the Finish Jump to stop the timer to earn a score
If a Contact is missed (A-Frame or Teeter) another Obstacle must be taken before reattempting for points
Except for the 1-Point Jumps, Obstacles can only be completed once for points, but can be taken additional times for flow through the course.
!!! PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE !!!
Do not congregate around the scribe table during Competition so the Scribe can focus on scoring runs!
